  1. I think you’re kinda exaggerating. In the airline business, as secure as they can make an airplane, accidents are prone to happen, no matter what. Before you can judge the airline inc., you should find out as to why that airplane was blown in the airport, or what happened to those 4 airplanes before that.

  2. That could be a normal accident in aviation business if comparing the population of China. Here, an indicator of hazard rate with proportional to entire population is taken into account. Then, What would be the result? Maybe China airline is not bad as you see.

  3. I’m too tired today, had a long presentation, so let’s make it quick.

crazybear16: No matter what the reason is (except terrorism), the plane is not supposed to blow up. As a passenger, do you care if the plane you are riding on crashed because of pilot error, mechanical problem, or unsafe airport runway ? No, you don’t. You only care whether you would be dead or not. As simple as that. Now, as a person who travels often enough, know a bit about airplane, and have friends who work for both Lockheed Martin and Boeing, let me tell you this: yes, it’s true that accidents are prone to happen, but this frequency can only blamed on pilot errors and bad maintenance, nothing else. Don’t blame the airplane manufacturers. Air travel is not a new business, so we do have some statistic to analyze. China Airlines is a relatively small airline, the number of flights is ways smaller than other airlines’, yet, the number of accidents is so much higher. Have you ever heard of Cathay Pacific, how popular (mean number of flights) they are, and the number of accidents they have ? They’ll be surprised.

catfish: China Airlines based in Taiwan, not mainland China. And you know the population of Taiwan. :)
To all: I have nothing against China Airline. But as a customer, I have the right to choose a “safe” airline to use flying from USA to Vietnam, and China Airline is not one of them. And I think my friends would think the same way. :) Now, need to take a nap. My brain cell is decaying, lol.

  4. You are right! China Airlines is notorious for its poor safety record, described as “one of the worst safety records of any airline in the world” by CNN.[1] However, the airline is attempting to improve and has been accredited by the IATA with the IOSA (IATA Operations Safety Audit) for its safety practices.[2] (Wikipedia)
I just took at first by the name China….hi hi. Maybe one day some Chinese-Vietnamese will open an airlines company based in HCMC or HN>
